Brains, beauty, boss lady. Krista Schipner is queen bee around the Black Oak office, and without her quick wit, storehouse of knowledge and confident, caring attitude we would not be the small, but mighty agency we are today. Learn more about Krista’s contagious personality and her involvement in our business.
What is your position at Black Oak Creative and how did your background experience land you in this job? Account Director As the Account Director I have a hand in just about everything that is happening with our clients — from strategy to social and creative. I am also the one who gets to select the music for job interviews. My agency experience paired with my water sports background led to Steve Bates, owner and found of Black Oak Creative, stalking me — and eventually convincing me — to jump onboard this crazy train. Choo Choo! You're on death row. What would your last meal be? I’d start with a medium rare reverse-seared filet mignon with rosemary herb butter from my husband with some roasted sweet potatoes and broccolini. I would definitely have to throw in an entire loaf of toasted San Luis Obispo Sourdough bread because being gluten free isn’t about to matter… Oh also, I would like to follow that up with a big half-baked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Or just a truckload of the pulled pork nachos from Yellow Dog Eats. And of course, I’ll take a bottle of your finest cab. |
What do you most value about Black Oak's culture and vision?
Definitely the emphasis on authenticity — to ourselves, to our clients and in our work. Our three pillars: be honest, be authentic and be thoughtful guide everything we do and that to me, is so special — I don’t take it for granted. Also the ability to share ideas freely without judgement then see the good ideas come to life and make an impact.
What are you doing when you aren't working for Black Oak Creative?
When is that? Just kidding — I spend 100% of my time not working for Black Oak with my husband Bojan, 7 month old son Eli and dog Stella. Most of the time we are at the lake skiing, cooking or on some sort of outdoor adventure.
If you could be paid with something other than money, what would it be?
Without a doubt in no particular order: wine, chocolate, pedicures, shoes, Sephora gift cards and house cleaning services.
